Measuring Your Head For The Right Wig

Nothing is more worse than purchasing a wig, getting it and trying it on only to realize it doesn't fit. Has that ever happen to you? Well it's happen to me many of times. The reason for this, not properly measuring your head for your wig. A lot of wig makers constantly advertise once size fit all wigs but actually when it comes to wigs once does not fit all.

So how can you measure your head properly for a wig you may ask? Well there is actually two different methods that can be used to properly measure your head.

Method 1: Measuring Tape

Supplies you'll need: Measuring Tape, Pencil, Head

Step One: Start in the middle of your forehead. Run the tape around your whole head, behind your ears, the hairline in the nape of your neck and stop right where your first point is. Take note of that measurement, that is your Circumference.

Step Two: Put one end of the measuring tape on one side of your ear and run it over to the other ear at the same point. Take note of that measurement.

Step Three: Start the tape from the center of the front of your hairline at the nape of the neck. Measure until about an inch below the small bone at the bottom of the skull. Take note of measurement.

Step Four: Start at your temple, and bring tape measure around the back of your head to reach the other temple. Take note of that measurement.

Method 2: Piece of String

Supplies you'll need: 12 Inch piece of string, Pencil, Ruler, Head

Step One: Start in the middle of your forehead. Run the string around your whole head, behind your ears, the hairline in the nape of your neck and stop right where your first point is. Note the point. Place the string against a ruler take note of that measurement, that is your Circumference.

Step Two: Put one end of the string on one side of your ear and run it over to the other ear at the same point. Place the string against a ruler take note of that measurement.

Step Three: Start the string from the center of the front of your hairline at the nape of the neck. Measure until about an inch below the small bone at the bottom of the skull. Place string against the ruler take note of measurement.

Step Four:  Start at your temple, and bring string around the back of your head to reach the other temple. Place the string against a ruler take note of that measurement.

Now that you have the proper measurements you can look at the chart below and determine your proper wig size. Don't forget we offer custom wigs so you can email us your measurements and details for the custom wig of your chose.
